On February 4, 2023, Govt. First Grade College, Vijayanagara performed the play Nagara Pooje Idu Pourakarmikara Baalahaadi at the Sourabha 2023 event. Directed and written by Dr. Belur Raghunandan, this play addresses the lives of Pourakarmikas (sanitation workers), focusing on their struggles and societal status. Through a mix of realism and social commentary, the play sheds light on the challenges faced by these marginalized workers, questioning the larger societal framework that fails to recognize their dignity. It is a powerful narrative of justice, equality, and recognition.
