"Sourabha" is a state-level inter-college competition, and the dream initiative of Ranga Sourabha in collaboration with Bharata Yatra Kendra. Launched 24 years ago as a college theater troupe, Ranga Sourabha has grown into a professional group, offering unparalleled contributions to theater. "Sourabha" embodies the noble idea of giving back to college theater, much like the proverb, "Pour the water of the lake back into the lake."
When the idea for Sourabha first emerged, there was an air of skepticism, with many questioning its feasibility—whether it could succeed. However, Bharata Yatra Kendra's General Secretary, Sri Nagarajamurty, transformed this situation. He became the cornerstone of Ranga Sourabha's dedication. Under his guidance and leadership, Sourabha has flourished. To date, two editions of the "Sourabha: State Level Inter-College Competition" have been completed, demonstrating the power of determination and persistence.
In Sourabha's inaugural year, a considerable effort went into inviting colleges, persuading them to participate, and ensuring teams were sent. The success of Sourabha-20 generated excitement and paved the way for future events. This led to Sourabha-23, where colleges registered freely, bringing a fresh and vibrant energy to college theater. This edition of Sourabha saw great success, thanks to enthusiastic participation and strong competitors.
Once again, the high standards of the competition were maintained by assembling a respected jury and inviting experts in the field. This included seasoned actors Ashok and Achyut Kumar, educator D.N. Venkatarao, renowned Kuchipudi performer Mrs. Vyjayanthi Kashi, and B. Suresh. The eleven-day event concluded on February 11, with grand celebrations marking the end.
Throughout the event, celebrities from the world of film and theater graced the occasion, including Rishabh Shetty, Sapthami Gowda, Abhishek Ambareesh, and Shweta Srivatsav. They attended Samsa Theatre's prize distribution session, further elevating the prestige of the event.
