Shatavi which acclaimed as the best folk play was also known for its foot tapping music which could take you to a trance. The play revolves around this destined child kalki who is the daughter of a god selected human responsible for writing people’s fortunes. The play takes a sharp turn when the destiny writer has to engrave her own daughter Kalki’s destiny, which reads that she will give birth to a kid even before she ties the nuptial knot. Eventually the destiny reads that Kalki will marry the same son. Fearing this, the destiny writer never would allow kalki to go out of the house and would have kept her under house arrest. The entertainment to kalki is through Erra who regularly comes to their house and speaks to kalki through the window.

Story then takes a turn when Erra’s mother reveals the true job profile of kalki’s mother and out of shock Kalki elopes home and reaches the forest. She comes in touch with a sage and that meeting leads to Kalki being a mother. Not able to take this sin, kalki decides to commit suicide and falls into the well and leaves back her infant son.

The king of that province rescues the son while the villagers save Kalki. After few years the prince (kalki’s son) comes to the village and falls in love with Savithri (erstwhile Kalki) and decides to marry. After the marriage and few turn of events, Kalki reunites with her mother and then recognizes that she has married her own son. The story ends spreading the message that a human cannot escape destiny in spite of several efforts.
